XING Expands Mobile Offering

  • 215 percent growth in mobile usage with every eighth login coming from a mobile device
  • Android app now features local address book synchronization

Hamburg, May 3, 2011 - Today business network XING is releasing a new version of its iPhone app. Together with the recently launched Android app and Mobile Web App available to all end devices by going to “

touch.xing.com”, it helps to serve XING’s more than ten million members. All of the apps include the Mobile Handshake, a feature allowing two XING members to connect with one another without having to search by name or exchange business cards. Version 3.2 of the Android app also offers a number of features that fully exploit the Android operating system such as an address book synchronization and the option to post status updates on Twitter while posting on XING. Stefan Gross-Selbeck, CEO at XING AG, said: “A lot of business is conducted on the go, such as at trade fairs, conferences and meetings. A business network needs to accommodate these needs and be available while on the move, which is why we’ve been working hard over the last six months to continue developing our mobile offering. The quality of the product itself and the 215 percent increase in mobile usage in the last twelve months are both indicative of our strategy and orientation." In fall 2010, XING stepped up its app development work by improving the design and usability while also implementing state-of-the-art technology. XING is one of the first-ever companies to adopt the “jQuery mobile” JavaScript framework in its mobile website so that it has the same excellent design, performance, and usability as a native app. XING’s ongoing development and expansion of its mobile offering has led to a vast increase in traffic with mobile usage now accounting for every eighth visit.
