XING integrates amiando services

XING enables end-to-end event management processing from registration through to billing by implementing amiando softwareHamburg, February 23, 2011 - Following on from the acquisition of amiando AG, a Munich-based online event specialist, from tomorrow XING members will be able to use amiando’s services from within the XING platform. This means that for the first time, every XING user will be able to offer and sell tickets via the platform. PLUS Events can be created and posted in just a few minutes thanks to the user-friendly interface covering the entire event management process from registration to billing and on to admission management.

In 2010 alone, XING members organized some 180,000 events, including 70,000 paid events, via the platform with the aim of forging online contacts at real-life events. Stefan Gross-Selbeck, CEO at XING AG, said that “The addition of amiando services to our events product is a real boost in added value for our members.  This in turn allows us to reinforce the unique link between online and offline networking while also anchoring XING even more in people’s day-to-day business.”

Payment processing and ticket dispatching via XING

XING members can use the platform to organize business events such as congresses, seminars, specialist conferences, and networking events. In the past, organizers had to use their own billing processes, but now the entire billing and ticket dispatch processes are fully integrated into the XING platform. This new solution offers organizers the opportunity to create a number of different ticket categories complete with availability and individual pricing as well as promotion codes. On top of all that, organizers also have access to a range of different ticket sale statistics. XING charges a processing fee for every ticket sold.

Public events are visible to XING members who may be interested in them. This allows event organizers on XING to advertise their events to the attractive and affluent target group of business professionals and to reach up to 10 million members on the platform. XING members benefit from end-to-end services and do not need to enter their payment details on any other external platforms.
This is all made possible thanks to the integration of amiando’s technology, which has already hosted more than 100,000 events worldwide, into the XING platform. To achieve this, XING made extensive use of the recently published amiando Event Management API. This application programming interface allows the existing events section on XING to be expanded, where members are able to create events, enter a description, choose who their events are visible to, and invite guests to take part. The new PLUS Events option will be available to all members here: https://www.xing.com/events.
